Look out for the “Smartwood by Alpwood” car!
Alpwood owners Bruce and Sue Crockett have been part of the motor racing world for a long time! They used to follow New Zealand’s famous Possum Bourne as part of his sponsorship team. In 2002, Bruce decided he wanted to get back into racing and, when the opportunity to purchase a small Ford KA (pictured) came up, the “Smartwood by Alpwood” car was born! Sue joined him as co-driver and between them they now make a formidable business and racing team competing throughout New Zealand. They also continue to sponsor races including the Possum Memorial Rallies. This year they are competing in the Possum Bourne Memorial rally on Saturday 8 May.
Well we did enjoy ourselves but unfortunately we had a wee oops and rolled down a bank to avoid hitting another competitor. We picked ourselves up but were not able to complete the rally. We were okay but the car was not. Once the car is repaired we live to race another day
